We Need Some Help with the Fourth of July Parade
We need some volunteers for the Fourth of July Parade. If interested please contact Connie 215-357-7300 ext 301 at the township building. Thanks.
OUR FOURTH OF JULY PARADE WILL BE HERE SOON

“July 4th 2012, Living It, Loving It” is the theme of the Lower Southampton Township Independence
Day Parade to be held on Wednesday, July 4th, beginning at 1:00 p.m. The public is invited free of charge.
According to Bob DiBenedetto and Ed Shannon, both of Feasterville, PA, event chairpersons, “This year’s parade and celebration will be jam packed with everything from a Mummers string band, jug, pipe and pep bands, the Jody King Show, Mad Dog, the Philadelphia Eagles Pep Band to the Boogie Dogs, Dixieland music, a motorcycle drill team, local and visiting fire departments, and colorful floats.”
In addition, this year’s event also will feature representatives from Action Karate, Minger & Lee Karate, as well as antique and classic cars and tractors and all terrain vehicles. Also parading will be a cordon of government officials plus a host of area groups and organizations including, boys and girls teams from the Lower Southampton Athletic Association, members of the Red Cross, the LuLu Shriners, 56th Striker Brigade, the Lower Southampton Neighborhood Watch, and the Feasterville Business Association with its Belgium horse drawn wagon. “We are always looking for more groups and organizations who wish to join the line of march,” note DiBenedetto and Shannon.
Once again, one of the highlights of this year’s fun and festivities will be the baby and bicycle competitions. Registration for those events will take place at noon in front of Wage Electric on Bustleton Pike. Also, there will special prizes awarded for the best floats.
“We also are inviting area businesses and private individuals to become sponsors for this year’s parade,” say DiBenedetto and Shannon. Everyone who participates with a sponsorship of $100 or more will receive a special certificate of appreciation, as well as prominent identification in the 2012 parade book which is given to all spectators. “Without the generosity and support from our wonderful sponsors we would not be able to stage this exciting and entertaining patriotic salute for everyone in the community to enjoy, relate DiBenedetto and Shannon.
The Lower Southampton July 4th Parade will begin at Second Street and Bustleton Pike and will move north on Route 213 Bridgetown Pike to Lower Southampton Elementary School and the Lower Southampton Township grounds. Volunteers are needed to help set up and serve as marshals the day of the event. Rain date is Saturday, July 7.
For additional information about sponsorship opportunities, event participation or serving as a volunteer, contact Connie Perry at Lower Southampton Township, 215-357-7300, extension 301.

New Township Flood Maps Now Available
The township has the new flood maps and they outline over the new flood zone in RED, the area of the old flood zone map. This makes it easier to see what was and what will be.
These flood maps are in the Township Office for review and the public is welcome to come into the Zoning Office and review them. You should be able to see the new flood zone and compare it to the previous flood zone.
They will also be available at the Board of Supervisor's meetings on February 24th and March 9th.
FLOOD MAPS AND INSURANCE
FEMA will be adopting a NEW Flood Map sometime around Nov. 2012. Right now your insurance company still recognizes the old FEMA Flood Map. We have copies of the new proposed maps in the office with an overlay of the old Flood Area. The flood area has shifted and some people who were in could very well be out and due to the shift new folks are now be in the Flood Area.
If you obtain Flood Insurance before the maps are adopted, you will pay the lesser amount and that amount will stay with your property as long as the premium payment is uninterrupted. When you re-mortgage, reverse mortgage, get a home equity loan, or even sell your home, the insurance premium will stay at the lower rate as long as it was paid.
If you go to www.floodsmart.gov/floodsmart/floodsmart/oneStepFloodRiskAddressSearch.action go to the right hand red box and type in your address, town, and zip code hit go they will tell you if you are low or high risk.
We will update information at this site as we learn more and are able to pass it onto you. You may call this office and we will try and help you as well.
