FIRE MARSHAL / EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR

FIRE MARSHAL-FULL TIME

Exempt / managerial position

 

The Fire Marshal is responsible for the coordination and implementation of any and all fire code enforcement activities of the Township, including inspections, review of building plans, incendiary investigations and other activities in accordance with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  Lower Southampton Township is seeking applicants for one (1) full time Fire Marshal Desirable candidates should be Firefighter 1 & 2 certified, Fire Inspector 1 in accordance with the State of Pa. UCC Dept. of Labor and Industry, Fire Officer 1 certified, CPR First Responder certified, VRT certified, Haz-Mat awareness certified. Operations level preferred. Candidate must have Fire Apparatus Driver-Operator Certification and NIMS certification – 100, 200, 700, 800, ICS NIMS Management. 300.

 

Candidate must be able to assume full responsibility for coordination of activities during emergency management situations and work with all people and organizations needed during emergencies. They must maintain, update, coordinate, disseminate and use the information contained in the emergency management manual. Maintain managerial control under potentially stressful conditions and work cooperatively with superiors, subordinates and peers. They must exercise a high degree of self-discipline and be able to communicate orally in the English language with the public in a one-to-one or group setting.  They must have knowledge of the operation of all Fire Department equipment and apparatus and have the ability to learn and observe proper safety precautions. They must have the computer skills necessary to electronically track fire inspections, incidents and investigative data which include but not limited to MS Word and Excel.

 

Candidate must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

           

Candidate must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.  College degree preferred. They must possess a valid Driver’s License.  Applicants are subject to a pre-employment background check and must supply a current copy of a criminal history record check from https://epatch.state.pa.us upon offer of employment. Salary range is $40,000-$55,000 per year.
