Fall 2012 Intramural Soccer Registration
Programs for Boys and Girls from ages 4-13
Micro Soccer Program 2012
The purpose of our Micro Program is to introduce younger players to the game of soccer in a fun, positive, non-competitive environment. We will work on different soccer skills each week of
the season, however the majority of each session will be devoted to letting the kids play. The Micro Program is co-ed, for children ages 4 and 5 (as of 8/1/12). The season begins around the week
after Labor Day and lasts 8 weeks. Sessions are held on Friday evenings at Russell Elliott Park on Buck Rd., lasting around 45 minutes. If a night is cancelled due to inclement weather, the session
will be re-scheduled, possibly on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Children are placed on teams of around 8 kids each. For children this age, a size 3 soccer ball is used, which will be provided to
each child the first night. Cleats are not required, but can be used. Shinpads are required. Each child is given a team shirt, shorts, and socks. Closing program is held the last week with pizza,
drinks, and trophy for all children who participated in the program. Parent participation is needed and welcomed, even if your knowledge and experience with soccer is limited. If there are any
additional questions, feel free to contact us at lsaasoccer@msn.com
Intramural Soccer Program
Program is for children, both boys and girls, from age 6-13. Currently, program is co-ed, with age groups set depending on numbers of each age registered, but usually around 6-9 and 10-13
year olds are grouped together. Intramural soccer is recreational soccer which allows all children to participate, regardless of experience or soccer skills. Teams for the fall are usually selected
around the time school resumes, and games start a weekend or two after Labor Day, and run until early to mid-November. Teams will usually practice one night a week, and play one game a week. Older
ages will play 8 players per side on a field of about 70 x 50 yards. Games will usually be on Friday evenings at Russell Elliott Park on Buck Rd. Any games which are re-scheduled due to inclement
weather, could be played on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. The younger ages will play small-sided games, meaning smaller field (about 45 x 35 yards), smaller goals, with less players, 6 per side,
which allows for more involvement and participation for all the players. Trophies are awarded to each player in the younger age group, but scores are not kept and wins and losses are not tracked. For
the older age group, scores are kept and trophies are awarded to the champion and runner-up. All teams make the play-off round. Coaches in the intramural program are volunteers, and are always needed
and appreciated.
